Obituary 

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Theresa Aqui on September 29, 2024, at Michael Garron Hospital, in Toronto surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 16, 1947 in China to parents Pelham Chang Sr. & Lau Fong Chang. Loving wife to Wilson for 55 years. Beloved mother of Lawrence (Theresa), Lorraine (Dexter), Lester (Lori) and Patrick (Debbie). Proud grandmother of Jessica, Abigail, Gavin, Hannah, Dominic and Amelia. Caring siblings of Susanne (late Selwyn), Michael (Yvonne), Pelham Jr. (Betty), Keith, and Cherryl (David). Patricia will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of her many extended family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.
Your thoughts and kindness are truly appreciated during this time of sorrow.

It’s a day of joyous reunion for our mother Sylvia Chang (Chin Yun Lain) to be reunited with our father, Morris (Chang Tiam Choy). Sylvia peacefully passed away on Thursday January 11, 2024. Mother of Anne, Austin (Lyn), Mary, Monica, Margaret, Andrew (D), Annette (Larry) and Kennedy (D). She was a dear relative to Jean Hew (Lee Jai), Loi Go (Winston Chang) and Siong (Philip Chang). She was grandmother of Justin (Vanessa), Iba, Lisa (Kevin), Christopher, Aveclaire and great grandmother of Owen.

A birthright of China, a Sino-Japanese War survivor, a citizen of Trinidad & Tobago, an icon of Marabella and a grateful Canadian, our mother embodied a rich tapestry of cultures, resilience and unique identity, One of the first female Chinese entrepreneurs in Trinidad, she was a recognized chef, who introduced Hakka cuisine to the palate of a multicultural island.

Cherish the memories, embrace her generosity, kindness and compassion.

To those who celebrated her 95th Birthday in 2023, your presence was graciously appreciated. We were blessed with a Marian loving mother. Thank you God for her graces, virtues and gifts. Sylvia’s life was a blessing, Sylvia’s memory a treasure.

Kennedy Chang, loving son of Sylvia Chang and the late Morris Chang (Chang Tiam Choy) peacefully rested in the arms of Our Blessed Virgin Mother when God gently summoned him to his heavenly kingdom on Monday 12th June, 2023 in the company of the angels and loved ones. Lilian Chin Ping Sing

March 10, 1932 – May 30, 2022

Passed away peacefully, on Monday May 30, 2022, at Etobicoke General Hospital, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Vernon. Loving mother of Mary (Chi-Fai), Patricia (Cupid), David (the late Bilu), Brian (Jennifer), Toney (Denise), Linda, Robert (Cheryl) and Gordon (Yvette). Much loved grandmother of Michelle, Marsha, Brian Jr., Natasha, Lucas, Jonathan, Michael, Stephen and Gregory. Proud great grandmother of Oscar, Ezio, Avangeline, Frankie, Max, Cara, Summer, Matthew and Christopher. Predeceased by grandchildren Bobby and Bimoy. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and friends.

Mrs. Chin Ping Sing was an Honourable Lifetime President and long standing Fui Toong On Society’s member. Her late husband, Vernon, was the former Chairman, past President and a co-founder of the Society.

John Chang, January 8, 1934- 2019 passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday April 21, 2019, in his 85th year. Husband of the late Wan Kiu Chang, loving father of Edna (Andre) Sue-A-Quan, Gregory (Avena) Chang and Lina (David) Yee. Loving grandfather of Liana and Christian Yee. Survived by his step-mother Rose Chang, step-sister Demetria and step-brothers George, Dennis, Felix, Marlon, Anthony and Frederick.

Lee, Sook Ching (Jeannie) Passed away peacefully in Toronto on Friday, November 30, 2018 at age 72 years with her family by her side.

Jeannie was a devoted wife to Soon for 44 years and was a loving mother to Jennifer (Philip) and Colleen. She will be greatly missed by friends and family  who all  knew her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. David Rose and the Intensive Care Unit nursing staff at The Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Campus for their care and support in her final days.

Cremation has taken place. Jeannie’s family will receive friends and family for a  Memorial Visitation at Ogden Funeral Homes, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, (416-293-5211), on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Mrs  Pik Yun “Susie” Hocoy, peacefully passed away on Monday July 25th, 2018. Susie was the beloved wife of the late Conrad Hocoy, and cherished mother of her children Dan and Patricia. Blessed with a hard working attitude, strong will and devotion to her family, she embraced all that life had to offer. Her warm smile and witty humour touched those she interacted with. Susie will be forever missed and deeply loved by her colleagues, friends and families who are committed to live forward in the spirit of her open heart and loving nature.
